Gilbert, AZ – A significant incident unfolded near the intersection of Lindsay Road and State Route 202 today, as a truck fire involving a tanker carrying jet fuel prompted a swift response from the Arizona Highway Patrol's Hazardous Materials Response Unit.
The Gilbert Fire Department was first on the scene, quickly working to extinguish the flames that engulfed a portion of the tanker truck. While the fire was contained, the presence of 8,000 gallons of jet fuel necessitated specialized handling to prevent further hazards.
Following the fire suppression, the Highway Patrol's HAZMAT team oversaw a critical operation to transfer the remaining 8,000 gallons of jet fuel to another tanker truck.
