Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Dump Truck in Haines City

HAINES CITY, Fla. — A 64-year-old Haines City man was killed Tuesday morning after being struck by a dump truck while walking in a crosswalk, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:35 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the intersection of South 30th Street and Robinson Drive in Haines City.

According to FHP, a dump truck driven by a 36-year-old Winter Haven man was traveling northbound on South 30th Street.

At the same time, the 64-year-old pedestrian was walking southbound across the roadway in a crosswalk at Robinson Drive.

FHP said the dump truck turned right at the intersection and collided with the pedestrian.

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Multiple Roads Closed During Investigation

iSkyNews.com was on scene following the crash and observed a significant law enforcement presence as investigators worked the scene.

Multiple road closures were in effect in the surrounding area, including near Haines City High School and along nearby roadways.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers took over the crash investigation.

At the scene, iSkyNews.com observed the deceased pedestrian covered by a white tarp in the roadway. Due to the sensitive nature of the incident and out of respect for the victim, iSkyNews.com has blurred the individual in photographs and video from the scene.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area while investigators remained on scene and road closures continued.

The identity of the pedestrian was not immediately released.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
