KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A quiet Sunday afternoon in Kissimmee turned tragic after a young child was fatally shot, prompting a large response from the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called just before 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 12, to the 2600 block of Scrapbook Street in the Storey Lakes community after receiving a 911 call reporting that a child had been shot.
When first responders arrived, they found the injured child and rushed the victim to Arnold Palmer Hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, the child was later pronounced deceased.
For several hours, detectives remained at the scene processing evidence and interviewing witnesses as crime scene tape surrounded the neighborhood. Multiple Osceola County Sheriff's Office vehicles remained in the area while investigators worked to determine exactly what led to the shooting.
As of Sunday evening, investigators have not released the child's age or identified anyone involved. No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains active.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says there is no threat to the community as detectives continue gathering evidence.
In a statement provided to iSkyNews.com, Captain Kim Montes with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office said:
"Just before 4:00 p.m. on July 12, 2026, OCSO received a 911 call about a shooting. Deputies responded to the 2600 block of Scrapbook Street to reports of a young child that had been shot. The child was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital and later pronounced deceased. Detectives are on scene investigating the incident. There is no threat to the community. Once additional information is confirmed, an update will be provided."
