POINCIANA, Fla. - A Poinciana man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after deputies say he mistakenly tried to enter a neighbor's home, prompting a 911 call.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to an attempted burglary in progress at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Friday, July 3, after a homeowner reported that an unknown man was trying to get inside her residence.

When deputies arrived, they found a blue Mercedes E450 in the driveway with its backup lights illuminated. A deputy positioned their patrol vehicle behind the Mercedes to prevent it from leaving.

Investigators identified the driver as 54-year-old Errol Ellis Nusenko, who allegedly stumbled out of the vehicle wearing only one sock and no shoes. Deputies also reported finding several small bottles of Flash Point liquor on and around the driver's seat.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Nusenko had difficulty standing without leaning against the vehicle and was uncooperative with deputies during the investigation.

Nusenko reportedly told deputies he believed he was at his own home. Investigators said his explanation appeared plausible because his residence is located on the same looped street and is the same color as the home where the incident occurred. However, deputies said he had stopped on the wrong side of the loop.

Based on their observations, deputies requested that Nusenko perform field sobriety exercises, but he refused.

He was arrested on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence.

While being transported to the Sheriff's Processing Center, deputies said Nusenko repeatedly struck his head against the plexiglass divider inside the patrol vehicle.

At the processing center, breath samples reportedly measured 0.126 G/210L and 0.124 G/210L, both above Florida's legal limit of 0.08.

Nusenko was charged with Driving Under the Influence (Misdemeanor) and was also cited for Open Container of Alcohol.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
