Kissimmee, Fla. - The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says deputies shut down two illegal house parties during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, resulting in six arrests, including a juvenile who was allegedly found carrying a handgun.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the enforcement effort follows Sheriff Chris Blackmon's promise to crack down on illegal open house parties throughout Osceola County.

The first incident happened on Friday, July 4, at a vacation rental located in the 5100 block of Crown Haven Road in Kissimmee.

Deputies responded after the property's VRBO manager reported an unauthorized party at the home. Investigators said at least 20 people were inside the rental, violating the property's rental agreement.

During the investigation, deputies arrested a 16-year-old male who was allegedly found in possession of a handgun and multiple hollow-point rounds.

Also arrested at that location was 20-year-old Efrain Manases Martinez, who was charged with possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia before being booked into the Osceola County Jail.

The second incident occurred during the early morning hours of Saturday, July 5, at a rental home in the 1800 block of Harbor Road.

Deputies responded after receiving a 911 disconnect call at approximately 1:52 a.m. When they arrived, they discovered what appeared to be another large open house party.

According to investigators, several attendees attempted to flee into nearby woods to avoid deputies. Authorities also reported that multiple people appeared impaired and that many partygoers were under the legal drinking age of 21.

Four arrests were made at the Harbor Road location:

  • Diego Abraham Ledezma-Otto, 20, charged with promoting an open house party.
  • David Mateo Canas-Romero, charged with resisting an officer without violence.
  • Alejandro Quintero-Escalante, charged with resisting an officer without violence.
  • Jose Miguel Oraa-Perez, charged with resisting an officer without violence.

Sheriff Chris Blackmon said the Sheriff's Office recently met with Airbnb representatives and is continuing to work with vacation rental companies to quickly identify and shut down illegal parties before they become dangerous.

The Sheriff's Office also issued a warning to anyone planning to host or attend illegal open house parties.

"If you are going to break the law at these illegal open house parties, we will shut it down and someone is going to jail," the agency said.

Anyone who witnesses an illegal open house party is encouraged to contact the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
