Kissimmee: Police Search for Suspects After Employee Nearly Struck During Fireworks Theft

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A Fourth of July holiday shopping trip turned dangerous Saturday evening after a group of suspects allegedly stole fireworks from a Kissimmee business and nearly ran over an employee who confronted them.
According to preliminary information, officers with the Kissimmee Police Department responded to Big Bang Fireworks, located at 3000 John Young Parkway, after receiving reports of a theft in progress.
Investigators say several Black male suspects, all reportedly dressed in black clothing, entered the business and grabbed multiple handfuls of fireworks and other merchandise before fleeing.
An employee confronted the group outside the store. During the encounter, the employee told officers that one of the suspects attempted to run them over with a vehicle while escaping the scene. The employee was not struck.
Police say two vehicles were involved in the incident: a pickup truck and a sedan. Descriptions of the vehicles have not yet been released.
The Kissimmee Police Department and the Osceola County Sheriff's Office are working together to identify, locate, and apprehend those responsible.
No arrests have been announced at this time, and investigators have not released additional suspect descriptions.
