ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — One person was killed and two others were seriously injured Wednesday morning after a head-on crash on the Orange Avenue overpass near Wetherbee Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:32 a.m. on July 1, 2026, on Orange Avenue south of Wetherbee Road.

According to a press release sent directly to iSkyNews.com by the Florida Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Impala was traveling southbound on Orange Avenue in the inside lane when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway, crossed the median, and entered the northbound lanes.

The Impala then collided head-on with a 2012 Toyota 4Runner that was traveling northbound on the overpass.

Following the impact, both vehicles became partially engulfed in flames, creating a dangerous scene for first responders.

The 26-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Impala was transported to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, a 61-year-old man from Arcadia, and his 33-year-old male passenger from Kissimmee were both transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

Troopers said the 61-year-old driver later died from his injuries. His next of kin has been notified.

The 33-year-old passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, remains hospitalized with serious injuries. The condition of the Impala driver has not been updated.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol, with assistance from the agency's homicide investigators.

Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
