OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — An Osceola County Sheriff's deputy has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested overnight by the Orange County Sheriff's Office on a domestic violence charge.

According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Elias Ramirez III, 34, was arrested early Thursday following a domestic violence investigation conducted by the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office confirmed Ramirez has been employed with the agency since March 18, 2024, and has been placed on administrative leave while the criminal case proceeds.

Authorities said the alleged victim reported that Ramirez shoved and kicked her during an incident. Officials also said Ramirez allegedly took the victim's personal and work phones, refused to return them, and refused to leave when asked.

The victim was able to leave the location and went to a nearby RaceTrac gas station in Orange County, where she contacted law enforcement.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office released the following statement:

"Osceola County Sheriff's Deputy Elias Ramirez III was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff's Office overnight for domestic violence. Deputy Ramirez, 34, has been placed on administrative leave by our agency. He was hired by the Osceola County Sheriff's Office on March 18, 2024."

The Orange County Sheriff's Office is handling the criminal investigation.

As with all criminal cases, the allegations are accusations. Elias Ramirez III is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
