LAKELAND, Fla. — 14-year-old Lakeland Highlands Middle School student has been arrested after investigators say he made multiple bomb threats targeting his school during the 2025-2026 school year.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's OfficeAdrian Allison was taken into custody after being positively identified as the individual responsible for a series of threatening phone calls that prompted an investigation involving local law enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Authorities say the most recent incident occurred on May 27, 2026, when the Lakeland Police Department received five separate 911 calls from an unknown male threatening to "blow up this place," referring to Lakeland Highlands Middle School. A sixth call was also made to the Polk County Sheriff's Office Emergency Communications Center.

During the calls, the suspect allegedly stated, "I have a bomb."

Investigators quickly determined the calls originated from inside the school. An FBI special agent responded to assist law enforcement in tracing the phone number used to make the threats.

According to detectives, investigative resources led them to a phone number registered to Adrian Allison. School staff members and the school's School Resource Deputy confirmed that Allison was a student enrolled at Lakeland Highlands Middle School.

When interviewed by detectives, Allison reportedly admitted to making the calls and told investigators he did it because he was "bored in class and thought it was a funny joke."

As a result of the investigation, Allison faces the following charges:

Charges Filed

  • 6 counts of False Report of a Bomb (F2)
  • 6 counts of Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device (F3)
  • 6 counts of Misuse of 911 (M1)
  • Disruption of School Function (M2)
  • Violation of Probation

The Sheriff's Office noted that Allison was already on probation for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle at the time of his arrest.

Sheriff Grady Judd emphasized the seriousness of threats made against schools.

"Threats to blow up a school or commit any act of violence on a school campus are incredibly serious, and anyone who makes them will be charged with the appropriate felonies. Parents, remember to educate your children that this type of behavior will absolutely not be tolerated. Unfortunately this teenager is already heading down the wrong path."

Polk County Public Schools Superintendent Frederick Heid also addressed the incident.

"There is no excuse for making a threat against our students, staff, and schools. We will thoroughly investigate every instance, and the consequences are extremely serious. If you make a threat, it will have long-lasting, life-altering impacts on your future. We thank the Polk County Sheriff's Office for their professional and swift handling of this matter."

Following his arrest, Allison was booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center and is currently being held in the juvenile dorm at the Polk County Jail.

Authorities continue to remind students and parents that threats against schools are treated as serious criminal offenses and will be investigated aggressively.
