OSCEOLA COUNTY, FL — A tragic early-morning collision in Osceola County has claimed the life of a Davenport woman, according to official reports released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:25 AM on Tuesday at the intersection of Old Lake Wilson Road and Spine Road.
According to the preliminary narrative provided by Crash Investigator Trooper Rodriguez, the accident involved two sedans both traveling southbound on Old Lake Wilson Road.
The first vehicle, a 2017 Honda Accord driven by a 20-year-old male from Indialantic, Florida, was approaching Spine Road when the driver reportedly lost control. The Honda veered off the roadway to the left, crossing into the southbound travel lanes and directly into the path of oncoming traffic.
This maneuver resulted in a violent head-on collision between the front of the Honda and the front of a 2014 Nissan Sentra, driven by a 46-year-old female from Davenport.
Casualties and Injuries
Emergency responders arrived on the scene shortly after the impact. Despite both drivers wearing their seatbelts, the force of the collision proved fatal for the driver of the Nissan Sentra. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. FHP noted that her next of kin have not yet been successfully notified.
The 20-year-old driver of the Honda Accord was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center. While his injuries were classified as "serious," officials stated they are currently considered non-life-threatening.
The wreckage caused significant delays in the area overnight as Homicide Investigator Corporal Sutton processed the scene. At this time, it is unclear what caused the driver of the Honda to lose control of his vehicle.
The crash remains under active investigation, and officials have not yet announced if any charges will be filed.
