Lake County, FL. - A serious crash in Lake County Thursday afternoon has left one person dead and another hospitalized with severe injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash occurred at approximately 2:09 p.m. on March 19, 2026, at the intersection of County Road 473 and Allyson Road.

According to investigators, a 2021 Ford Explorer traveling northbound on County Road 473 left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree.
The driver, a 69-year-old man from New Boston, Michigan, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment.
A passenger in the vehicle, a 69-year-old woman also from New Boston, Michigan, was transported to AdventHealth Waterman, where she was pronounced deceased.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether either occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Next of kin notification for the passenger was still pending at the time of the report.
The Florida Highway Patrol’s Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit is actively working to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
