Steamroller Operator Killed in Equipment Rollover in Lake County
LAKE COUNTY, FL — A 35-year-old Ocala man was killed Monday morning after a construction steamroller overturned on private property in Lake County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:39 a.m. in the area of County Road 455 west of Hancock Road.
According to FHP, the steamroller was operating in an easterly direction on private property when the operator attempted to drive the equipment up an embankment. During the maneuver, the steamroller overturned.
Investigators say the driver was struck by the heavy equipment during the rollover. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Next of kin has been notified.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
