Chandler Fire Department Investigates Suspicious House Fire

CHANDLER, AZ — Fire officials are investigating a suspicious evening house fire that caused heavy damage to a vacant home near the intersection of West Kesler Street and South Longmore Street.

Chandler Fire Department crews were dispatched to the scene after reports of a structure fire during the evening hours. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered significant smoke and active flames coming from the garage area of the residence. Crews immediately initiated a garage attack, deploying hose lines to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further into the main structure.

Firefighters used thermal imaging equipment and conducted hands-on inspections to locate remaining hotspots and assess structural integrity. Firefighters Kinsey, Crain, and Evan were among those working the scene as crews worked efficiently to bring the fire under control.

The home was confirmed to be vacant at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.

While the fire was successfully contained, officials say the circumstances surrounding the incident have raised concerns. According to Chandler Fire Department spokesperson Corinne Bochino, neighbors reported unusual activity around the vacant home shortly before the fire started.

“Due to reports from neighbors, it does sound like there was suspicious activity around that house prior to the fire,” Bochino said. “Chandler Police are looking into it now.”

The Chandler Police Department has assumed the lead on the investigation to determine whether the fire was intentionally set. The cause remains under investigation.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area around the time of the fire to contact Chandler Police.
