Mesa Police Arrest Suspect After Violent Family Fight, Hit-and-Run, and High-Speed Pursuit

MESA, Ariz. — A Mesa man is facing multiple felony charges after a violent family altercation escalated into a hit-and-run crash, a dangerous high-speed pursuit, and a foot chase late Friday night.

According to Mesa Police, on Friday night, November 14, 2025, around 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on E. Arbor Avenue for a family fight call. The caller reported that the suspect, later identified as 45-year-old Tyrone Ray, had assaulted a family member before fleeing the home in a vehicle. Police were also informed that Ray was intoxicated and had struck a parked vehicle as he left the neighborhood.

A short time later, officers located Ray driving and attempted a traffic stop. Ray refused to pull over and fled, prompting Mesa Police’s aviation unit to respond. From above, the aviation crew tracked Ray as he reportedly drove at dangerously high speeds, ran multiple red lights, and nearly collided with other motorists.

Out of concern for public safety, patrol units attempted another traffic stop, but Ray again failed to comply and continued driving recklessly. The pursuit came to a head near 1900 E. University Drive, where Ray finally stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers quickly caught up to him and took him into custody without further incident.

Ray was transported and booked on numerous charges, including Felony Flight, Criminal Damage, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving, Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Aggravated DUI.

No serious injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
