Stove Fire Prompts Major Response in Haines City; Firefighters Arrive to Locked Home and No Resident
HAINES CITY, Fla. (October 7, 2025) — A kitchen fire caused by cooking oil left on a hot stove prompted a large-scale emergency response in Haines City Tuesday afternoon — but when firefighters arrived, they found the home lockedand the resident gone, forcing crews to scramble for access as smoke alarms rang out from inside.
According to Haines City Fire officials, the incident occurred at approximately 3:13 p.m. at 10765 Jim Edwards Road. The 911 caller reported she had accidentally left the stove on, called for help, and then left the residence to "pick up her child from school." Before leaving, she locked all doors and told dispatchers she would “be back later.”
Fire crews arrived within minutes and encountered audible smoke alarms coming from the house. However, due to the property being secured, they were unable to immediately investigate the interior. Firefighters began an exterior size-up while preparing to force entry if needed.
