Elderly Man Killed After Propane Tank Explosion in Kissimmee Shed Fire
Kissimmee, FL (iSkyNews.com) – The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) is investigating a tragic accident that claimed the life of an 81-year-old man Thursday evening after a propane tank explosion ignited a fire behind a Kissimmee residence.
According to OCSO, deputies and Osceola County Fire Rescue crews responded around 6:21 p.m. on October 16, 2025, to reports of a shed fire at 1810 Orange Vista Boulevard. When first responders arrived, they found the shed fully engulfed in flames. After extinguishing the fire, crews discovered the remains of 81-year-old Miguel Guzman inside the structure.
Detectives spoke with Guzman’s wife and daughter, who were at the home when the fire broke out. Upon reviewing security camera footage facing the backyard, investigators determined that Guzman had been sitting in the doorway of the shed with a drill and a propane tank. The video showed him attempting to drill a hole into the tank before it suddenly exploded, propelling him into the shed and sparking the fatal fire.
Authorities confirmed that Guzman succumbed to his injuries on scene.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office described the incident as an accidental death, though the investigation remains ongoing.
