Mesa Officers Open Fire After Suspect Points Gun During Family Fight
Mesa, AZ – September 18, 2025 – Mesa police officers were involved in a shooting early Thursday morning after responding to a domestic violence call in the 900 block of South Pasadena.
According to Mesa Police, just after midnight officers arrived at the residence for a reported family fight. Upon arrival, a 33-year-old man exited the home and immediately pointed a firearm at the responding officers. Both officers discharged their duty weapons, striking the suspect.
Medical aid was quickly provided on scene before the man was transported to a hospital. Police confirm he is stable and expected to survive. No officers or other individuals were injured in the incident.
Through the ongoing investigation, authorities determined probable cause exists for a domestic violence-related charge. Once released from the hospital, the suspect will be booked into jail.
Two Mesa officers were directly involved in the shooting. The case is now under review by the East Valley Critical Incident Response Team, with the Tempe Police Department taking the lead in the independent investigation. Mesa Police will continue to handle inquiries related to the original domestic violence call.
