Man Arrested After Ramming Police Car with Stolen Humvee in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A Scottsdale man is facing multiple felony charges, including Aggravated Assault on a police officer and Aggravated DUI, after allegedly using a stolen Humvee to ram a marked patrol vehicle with an officer inside.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department, the incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, August 29, in front of a business near Thomas and Hayden Roads. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Lyle Dennis Harmon Jr., allegedly drove a stolen Humvee into the parked patrol car.

The officer inside the vehicle sustained only minor injuries. Harmon was transported to a local hospital for treatment and remained there overnight.

Following his release from the hospital, Harmon was arrested on Saturday, August 30, and booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) Jail on August 31st under booking number G203308.

Police records indicate Harmon faces a number of serious charges related to the incident, including:

  • 🚓 Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Felony 2)
  • 🚓 Aggravated Assault on a First Responder (Felony 4)
  • 🚓 Theft of a Means of Transportation (Felony 3)
  • 🚓 Burglary in the 3rd Degree (Felony 4, multiple counts)
  • 🚓 Probation Violation (Felony 6)

        The Scottsdale Police Department's report number for the incident is 2517254. Harmon is being held at the Lower Buckeye Jail with a $50,000 bond. He is currently awaiting a court hearing.
