Osceola County, Fla. — According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, two men were taken into custody Monday night after a stolen vehicle pursuit that stretched across multiple Central Florida counties.

Just before 11 p.m. on September 29, an Osceola County deputy spotted a black 2014 Honda Civic traveling on U.S. 192 near Holiday Trail. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Polk County. Osceola County Aviation quickly responded, maintaining visual contact as the vehicle crossed into Orange County and then back into Osceola.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) joined the pursuit and attempted to stop the Honda Civic on Interstate 4, just east of Exit 55 in Polk County. When the trooper activated emergency lights, the driver refused to stop, leading to contact between the patrol car and the suspect vehicle. Moments later, the Civic became disabled and came to a halt.

The driver, identified as Clifford Marvil Pinellas (12/2/77) of Kissimmee, was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center for evaluation. He was arrested for an active warrant out of Walton County. Additional charges from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office are pending and expected to include:

  • Possession of a stolen vehicle
  • Fleeing and eluding an officer
  • Driving while license suspended

Once released from the hospital, Pinellas will be booked into the Orange County Jail on the Walton County warrant and forthcoming Osceola County charges.

The passenger, identified as Juan Carlos Laguer (06/06/1978) of Orlando, was taken into custody by Osceola County deputies. He faces charges of:

  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Trespass in a conveyance

Laguer was booked into the Polk County Jail following his arrest.

The incident remains under investigation, and the Florida Highway Patrol may file additional charges.
