Traffic Light Down, Hydrant Destroyed: Mesa Crash Leaves Two Seriously Injured and Roads Closed

BREAKING: Two Seriously Injured in Mesa Crash at Greenfield and Adobe

Mesa, Ariz. — A serious motor vehicle collision occurred this morning at approximately 10:55 a.m. at the intersection of Greenfield Road and Adobe Road in Mesa, prompting a multi-agency emergency response and road closures.

According to Mesa Fire & Medical, the incident was immediately upgraded to a “2-in-1 medical” due to life-threatening injuries sustained by both drivers. Upon arrival, crews found one vehicle had veered off the roadway, striking a pole and destroying a fire hydrant. The second vehicle remained in the intersection, blocking traffic.

The traffic signal at the intersection was inoperable at the time of the crash, and crews from the City of Mesa were dispatched to assess and repair the signal.

Emergency units from Station 208, Station 206, and Station 222, along with Mesa Police, responded to the scene. Two ambulances were dispatched, and both drivers required mechanical extrication due to being trapped inside their vehicles. One vehicle’s door was cut off and left against a nearby wall. Airbags deployed in both vehicles.

Apache Sands Tow Truck Company arrived around 11:30 a.m. to begin clearing the wreckage. As of noon, traffic signals at the intersection remain nonfunctional, and Adobe Road is closed in both directions at Greenfield.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
