Major Crash Injures 6 at Power & Superstition Springs in Mesa — Road Still Closed

Mesa, AZ (iSkyNews.com) — A serious crash involving two vehicles sent six people to the hospital this afternoon and has shut down a busy intersection in Mesa for several hours.

It happened around 4:20 p.m. at S. Power Road and E. Superstition Springs Boulevard. A black GMC Denali and a silver Dodge pickup truck collided, causing major damage and prompting a large emergency response.

Six people were hurt, including two adults in serious condition who were taken in as trauma patients. Four children also suffered injuries, though thankfully theirs are considered non-life-threatening. Six ambulances responded to the scene to care for and transport the victims.

As of 6:00 p.m., deputies placed up crime scene tape around the crash site. A witness at the scene mentioned a possible fatality, but that has not been officially confirmed at this time.

The intersection remains closed as of 6:24 p.m., and tow trucks had not yet arrived. Traffic is being rerouted and delays are expected in the area for some time.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and find alternate routes while the investigation continues.
