PINAL COUNTY, AZ — The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) is sounding the alarm about a surge in scam calls targeting residents in recent days. According to PCSO, scammers are falsely claiming individuals have outstanding warrants and are fraudulently using the names of actual sheriff’s office employees in an effort to steal personal information and money.
The Sheriff's Office emphasized that these scammers are not affiliated with law enforcement in any way, and no legitimate agency will ever demand payment or sensitive information over the phone.
“We’re seeing an unusually high number of reports this week,” PCSO stated. “These calls are entirely fraudulent and designed to create panic and confusion.”
PCSO advises residents to be highly suspicious of unsolicited calls requesting personal data or financial transactions. If you receive such a call:
- Hang up immediately.
- Do not provide any information.
- Call the organization back using a verified number you look up yourself.
Fortunately, several vigilant individuals did just that—disconnecting the call and verifying with PCSO before taking any action. These quick-thinking steps prevented them from becoming victims.
Anyone who has received similar calls or believes they may have been targeted is encouraged to report the incident to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
📞 To verify or report a scam: Call PCSO directly at (520) 866-5111
