FLAGSTAFF, AZ — June 22, 2025 — The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued yet another Red Flag Warning, this time for the northeastern portion of Arizona. The alert is in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM MST (Noon to 9 PM MDT) and covers areas including Winslow, Holbrook, Tuba City, Chinle, and the Navajo and Hopi reservations.
According to forecasters, gusty southwest winds of 15–25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, paired with extremely low humidity values between 5–10%, are creating prime conditions for wildfires to ignite and spread rapidly.
Residents are urged to obey all fire restrictions, avoid dragging chains, and refrain from parking vehicles on dry grass. Even small sparks can trigger large-scale fires under today’s dangerous weather conditions.
“Do your part to prevent wildfires,” officials reminded the public in a Sunday morning alert.
The good news: this could be the last high fire danger day for a while. Wind conditions are expected to ease throughout the week, lowering overall fire risk moving forward.
