Traffic Stop Near Davenport Leads to Arrest of Murder Suspect

Davenport, FL — What started as a routine traffic stop turned into a major bust Wednesday evening after a Polk County deputy arrested a man wanted for first-degree murder.

At approximately 7:23 p.m. on May 21, 2025, Deputy Iacobucci with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a white 2012 Nissan Altima that had made an illegal turn near the intersection of Ronald Reagan Parkway and Roselli Boulevard, just north of Davenport.

The driver, identified as 33-year-old Melvin Rafael Pardo Acevedo of Kissimmee, was cooperative during the stop. But when Deputy Iacobucci ran a routine records check, he discovered something far more serious than a traffic violation — Pardo Acevedo had an active warrant out of Osceola County for First Degree Murder with a Firearm.

Deputy Iacobucci promptly took Pardo Acevedo into custody. He was booked into the Polk County Jail without incident.

In an ironic twist, despite the serious charge hanging over him, Pardo Acevedo did catch a small break — the deputy issued only a warning for the illegal turn that initially led to his arrest.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about the Osceola County homicide case, and the investigation remains ongoing.
