Kissimmee, FL – A verbal altercation over a food order at a Kissimmee Checkers restaurant escalated into a fatal shooting on the night of May 21, 2025, resulting in the death of a customer and a first-degree murder charge for an employee.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the Checkers located at 5780 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway at approximately 10:10 PM following reports of a shooting.
Investigators determined that Wesley Robertson, a customer at the restaurant, became involved in a dispute with an employee, identified as 23-year-old Elijah Travis Mackey. The argument, reportedly concerning Robertson's food order, intensified, culminating in Mackey allegedly shooting Robertson.
Emergency services transported Robertson to Osceola Regional Medical Center. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
Following an investigation by the Osceola County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit, an arrest warrant was issued for Elijah Travis Mackey on May 22, 2025. Mackey faces a charge of first-degree premeditated murder. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
