POLK COUNTY, FL – A Bartow man with an extensive history of retail theft is back behind bars after being arrested by the Polk County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Authorities say 47-year-old Kenneth DeShawn Bailey is also wanted on outstanding warrants in several other Florida counties.

Bailey initially had active Polk County felony warrants related to thefts from a Rural King in Lakeland and a Publix in Lake Wales.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office's Organized Retail Theft Unit located Bailey on Wednesday as he reportedly committed another theft. Detectives observed Bailey at the Winn Dixie store on Havendale Boulevard in Auburndale, where he allegedly stole $107 worth of Gatorade.

Following the incident at Winn Dixie, detectives conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle Bailey was in. During the stop, they discovered approximately $470 worth of steaks, which they determined had just been stolen from a Publix store located a few blocks away.

In addition to the Polk County charges, Bailey is also facing warrants for theft out of Manatee County, Marion County, Hernando County, and Hillsborough County.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Bailey has a significant criminal history involving retail theft and has served four separate sentences in state prison.
