Fireworks Safety Tips
🎆 The safest fireworks are the ones you watch, not the ones you light. Professional displays are designed to be enjoyed from a safe distance.
💧 Have water ready. Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose within reach before lighting any fireworks.
👧 Keep children away from fireworks. Even sparklers can reach temperatures of more than 2,000 degrees, hot enough to cause serious burns.
🔥 Never relight a firework that doesn't go off. Wait at least 20 minutes, then soak it in water before throwing it away.
🚫 Never throw fireworks at people, pets, homes, or vehicles.
🏡 Only use fireworks in open areas away from dry grass, trees, homes, and anything that could catch fire.
🐾 Don't forget your pets. Many animals become frightened by loud noises. Keeping them indoors with a safe place to relax can help reduce stress.
🍺 If you're drinking, don't drive. Designate a sober driver, call a rideshare, or make arrangements before the celebration begins.
- 🚗 AAA Tow to Go: 855-2-TOW-2-GO (855-286-9246) (Holiday weekend only; available in many parts of Florida.)
- 📱 Uber or Lyft
- 🚕 Local taxi services
- 👥 A designated sober driver
If Something Goes Wrong
