Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Injured After Patrol Truck Rear-Ended on SR-54
PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was transported to a local hospital Tuesday morning after his marked patrol vehicle was struck from behind while stopped at a red light in Pasco County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on June 23, 2026, at approximately 7:09 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 54 and Northpointe Parkway.
Investigators said a Buick sedan driven by an 18-year-old woman from Hudson was traveling eastbound on SR-54 when she failed to stop for traffic ahead. The Buick subsequently collided with the rear of a marked Florida Highway Patrol Dodge Ram Commercial Vehicle Enforcement truck that was stopped at a red traffic signal.
The impact caused significant damage to the rear of the patrol vehicle, crushing the tailgate and rear bumper. The Buick sustained heavy front-end damage.
The trooper suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The driver of the Buick sustained minor injuries and was not transported from the scene.
Traffic was affected in the area as emergency crews and law enforcement personnel responded to the crash.
No additional information has been released regarding possible citations or charges.
