A 28-year-old Apopka woman died after a crash in Orange County late Thursday night. Florida Highway Patrol says the driver was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run moments before the fatal wreck.
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 28-year-old Apopka woman was killed late Thursday night after her vehicle crashed and caught fire near the intersection of Pine Hills Road and Old Winter Garden Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:35 p.m. on June 4.

Investigators said the woman was driving a 2025 Honda Accord southbound on Pine Hills Road and approaching Old Winter Garden Road in the right-turn lane when she failed to negotiate a curve while traveling at a high rate of speed.
According to FHP, the Honda left the roadway, struck a curb, crashed through a chain-link fence, and then collided with a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to become engulfed in flames.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the driver to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Despite life-saving efforts, she was later pronounced deceased.
During the investigation, troopers determined the Honda had allegedly been involved in a separate hit-and-run crash just minutes before the fatal collision.
That earlier crash occurred at the intersection of West Colonial Drive and North Pine Hills Road, where investigators say the Honda struck a 2013 Dodge Journey, causing minor damage. The driver of the Dodge, a 28-year-old Orlando man, was not injured.
Florida Highway Patrol investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding both incidents. No additional details have been released at this time.
