Rollover Accident Near Higley and University Injures Two, Shuts Down Intersection
MESA, AZ — A serious two-vehicle crash near the intersection of North Higley Road and East University Drive left two people injured and caused multiple road closures Monday evening.
The collision occurred around 6:00 p.m., prompting a large emergency response from Mesa Police and Mesa Fire & Medical. When crews arrived, they found one vehicle overturned onto its side in the intersection, while a pickup truck nearby showed heavy front-end damage. The truck’s windshield was completely smashed, with debris scattered across the roadway.
First responders located two patients at the scene. One patient was reported to have delayed injuries, while the other was unable to walk. Both were evaluated by Mesa Fire & Medical personnel as crews worked to secure vehicle hazards and assess the scene.
Police vehicles and emergency equipment blocked multiple lanes of traffic, leading to significant road closures in the area as investigators worked to document the crash and clear debris. Tow trucks were later brought in to remove the damaged vehicles from the roadway.
The intersection remained partially shut down for an extended period as crews worked under flashing emergency lights. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Mesa Police.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes while the scene was cleared.
