MESA, AZ (iSkyNews.com) — A large attic fire broke out Thursday evening, prompting a significant response from Mesa Fire and Medical crews. The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. in the 2800 block of E. Fairfield St., near Lindsay and Brown Roads.

According to officials, the initial 911 call reported smoke coming from the attic of the home. When the first engine company arrived, firefighters immediately upgraded the call to a working fire and requested additional units, including multiple engines, a ladder truck, a command van, and rehab support.

Heavy smoke and flames were seen coming from the southwest corner of the roof as crews deployed a ladder truck to attack the fire from above. Mesa Police also responded and shut down nearby roads to allow emergency crews to work safely.

Mesa Fire reported heavy flames coming from the west side of the attic, with the fire appearing to be contained to that area. Crews noted that conditions inside the home were clear with no smoke present. Gas and electric service to the residence were shut off as a safety precaution.

Firefighters deployed a drone to get an overhead view of the roof and removed several roof tiles to improve access to the attic fire. Crews also took extra steps to protect the classic cars on the property, working carefully to prevent any damage while extinguishing the blaze.

Firefighters worked aggressively to contain the blaze, bringing it under control by approximately 8:00 p.m. Loss stop was declared shortly after, with only a few lingering hot spots remaining. No other homes were damaged, and no injuries were reported.

Neighbors told iSkyNews.com they feared the fire would spread to nearby homes. They credited the swift and decisive actions of Mesa Fire and Medical for preventing a much larger disaster.
