Bomb Squad and Fire Crews Swarm Gilbert Neighborhood After Suspicious Trash Can Discovery
GILBERT, Ariz. (iSkyNews.com) — A large emergency response unfolded Friday morning after a worker discovered suspicious contents inside a trash can at a Gilbert residence. A witness described it as a bag of some sort with wires sticking out of it.
The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. near E Jasper Dr, prompting the Mesa Police Bomb Squad and Gilbert Fire and Police to respond to what officials described as a hazardous situation.

When firefighters arrived, they immediately established a hose line as a safety precaution while police secured the area. At 8:26 a.m., fire crews evacuated a nearby home out of an abundance of caution as the investigation intensified.
Residents in the area were advised to shelter in place while the bomb squad examined the suspicious materials. Authorities have not yet confirmed what was found inside the trash can, and no injuries have been reported.
At this time, approximately eight homes in the surrounding area have been ordered to shelter in place, while the bomb squad works to determine the nature of the materials discovered.
As of 9:00 am, this remains an active and ongoing situation, with officials working to ensure the area is safe.
