Mesa, AZ (iSkyNews.com) – Mesa Fire and Medical crews and Mesa Police responded to a commercial fire call at the Tri-City Surgical Center near 143 S. 63rd Street shortly after 12:15 PM on Wednesday afternoon.
When firefighters arrived, smoke was reported inside the facility, prompting an immediate evacuation of approximately 15 patients and their families. Staff and patients were seen gathered outside as Mesa Police secured the area to ensure everyone’s safety.
Firefighters deployed a ladder truck and climbed onto the roof to search for signs of fire or damage. After a thorough check, no active flames were located. Investigators determined the source of the smoke was an imaging machine inside the facility that had burned out, creating the burning odor and light haze that triggered the alarm.
By 12:40 PM, the situation was under control, and all patients and staff were cleared to return inside. Mesa Fire & Medical confirmed there were no injuries, and all units have since returned to service.
This swift response highlights the coordinated efforts of Mesa Fire and Medical crews and Mesa Police in ensuring public safety.
