Mesa, AZ – Late Tuesday night, tragedy struck near the intersection of South Sirrine and East Broadway Road when a police pursuit ended in a fatal single-vehicle crash.
According to Mesa Police, the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Officers had attempted to pull the driver over near Country Club Drive and Main Street on suspicion of impairment. When the driver fled, officers engaged in a pursuit due to the driver’s dangerous behavior and risk to other motorists.

Within minutes, the vehicle crashed into two brick walls at Sirrine and Broadway, leaving the driver with life-threatening injuries. Despite immediate response from Mesa Fire & Medical, who reported the driver had no pulse upon arrival, the driver died at the scene.
Mesa Police confirmed that no one else was injured in this single-vehicle incident.
The crash prompted a “2 in 1” medical call, summoning multiple fire engines, medics, and a battalion chief. Mesa Police then shut down westbound Broadway at Pasadena and eastbound Broadway at Sirrine, established a hard closure, and placed crime scene tape around the area as traffic investigators and detectives conducted a full accident reconstruction.
