PHOENIX, AZ – According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS), State Troopers with District 5 arrested five drivers for DUI within a two-hour period early Sunday morning, August 10, 2025.
The arrests began at 5:35 AM when a trooper stopped a speeding driver eastbound on I-10 who was following too closely. Signs of impairment led to an arrest.
Just one minute later, at 5:36 AM, a single-vehicle crash occurred southbound on I-17. Troopers determined the driver was impaired and placed them under arrest.
At 5:39 AM, a Toyota Corolla was clocked at over 100 MPH northbound on I-17. The driver was stopped and arrested for DUI after failing sobriety checks.
By 5:58 AM, troopers investigating another single-vehicle crash on I-17 encountered a VW Jetta driving the wrong way toward the collision scene. The driver was stopped and arrested for aggravated DUI.
The final arrest came at 7:47 AM after a single-vehicle crash eastbound on I-10. Troopers found the driver impaired and took them into custody.
AZDPS issued a strong reminder: "Sleeping it off doesn’t mean you’re sober. If you plan to drink, make a plan to get to your destination that doesn’t involve you getting behind the wheel. The consequences are NOT worth the buzz."
