Gas Leak Prompts Evacuation at Mesa Sports Bar and Neighboring Business / Google Maps

MESA, AZ (June 2, 2025) – A gas leak at the Beast of Bourbon Sports Bar and Grill led to the evacuation of the restaurant and a neighboring business earlier today. Mesa Fire & Medical Department, along with Mesa Police, responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call at 11:43 a.m. reporting a strong smell of gas originating from the kitchen.

The sports bar, located at 2235 S Power Rd #127, was quickly evacuated by emergency crews who established a safety perimeter around the area. As a precautionary measure, Suite 123, a gymnastics studio adjacent to the restaurant, was also evacuated.

Mesa Fire & Medical crews successfully located and secured the source of the leak, identified as a 3-inch gas line. A Battalion Chief and multiple fire engines were on site to manage the incident. The City of Mesa gas department was also dispatched to the scene to assist.

As of 12:08 p.m., officials reported that the situation was being brought under control and they were beginning to release some resources from the scene. Further updates on when the businesses can re-occupy are expected as crews ensure the area is completely safe.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the gas leak.
