PHOENIX, AZ – A driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) after crashing their truck into a barrier wall on the transition ramp from Interstate 10 to Interstate 17, according to Highway Patrol State Troopers. The vehicle was subsequently impounded.
The incident, which involved a red truck, occurred on the busy freeway interchange. Images from the scene show the truck positioned precariously on the ramp after the collision. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Responding State Troopers investigated the crash and determined the driver was impaired. An image purportedly from the scene shows a breathalyzer device displaying a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of .154, nearly twice the legal limit of .08 in Arizona.
The driver was taken into custody. Authorities reiterated their strong stance on impaired driving, emphasizing the message: "DUI = jail."
Details regarding the exact time of the crash or the identity of the driver have not yet been released. The crash highlights the dangers of impaired driving on Valley freeways.
