SUMTER COUNTY, FL – May 28, 2025 – A tractor-trailer driver from Columbus, Ohio, sustained minor injuries yesterday afternoon after a tire blowout led to a crash on Interstate 75 in Sumter County. The incident occurred at approximately 2:41 PM near Milepost 321, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Authorities reported that the 30-year-old male driver was operating a tractor-trailer northbound on I-75 when the left front tire experienced a sudden blowout. The driver subsequently lost control of the vehicle, which then veered into the median. The truck collided with both the guardrail and a concrete median barrier.
Emergency services responded to the scene. The driver, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries resulting from the crash.
Traffic in the area was impacted while crews worked to clear the scene. The FHP is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
