What Happened:

On May 12 at approximately 1:26 PM19-year-old Davin Boutwell drove a white Mercedes to Secret Cove for a drug transaction. He met with Alexander Colon-Martinez at the intersection of Ned Engle Blvd and Pirates Way, while David Yule and Anthony Roush stood nearby. Kristian Guzman waited with two young children in a silver Nissan Altima, acting as the getaway driver.

During the attempted robbery, Boutwell was shot through the chest. As he tried to flee in the Mercedes, he fatally struck 38-year-old Nathaniel Jones, Jr., who was riding an electric bicycle. The car then crashed into a nearby residence. Both Boutwell and Jones were pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

The Investigation:

PCSO detectives swiftly interviewed witnesses, analyzed surveillance footage, and recovered physical evidence. They uncovered a planned robbery orchestrated by Kristian, David, Alex, and Anthony. Jessica and Isabella were also in the getaway vehicle with Kristian’s two small children.

Investigators later discovered that a shotgun brought to the scene—but not used—was hidden behind a convenience store dumpster by Colon-Martinez. That weapon has since been recovered. However, the murder weapon used to shoot Boutwell has not yet been found.

“What happened on Pirates Way was unusual and tragic,” said Sheriff Grady Judd. “The six suspects we now have locked-up will be held accountable for their role in these murders. This is just another reminder that drugs, guns, and youth is a deadly cocktail.”

All six suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the missing firearm to contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
