PHOENIX, AZ – May 30, 2025 – Quick-thinking members of the public are being hailed as heroes today after they intervened to help a driver who had passed out behind the wheel, preventing a potential accident and ensuring the driver received prompt medical attention.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS), Highway Patrol State Troopers were dispatched to reports of a driver unresponsive in their vehicle on a local roadway. Upon arrival, Troopers found that concerned citizens had already taken action, carefully maneuvering their own vehicles to box in the stopped car. This prevented it from rolling into active traffic or potentially causing a crash.

AZDPS officials expressed their gratitude for the citizens' intervention. "Their actions were crucial in keeping this individual safe and getting them the urgent medical care they needed," said an AZDPS spokesperson.
