Davenport Man Arrested After Allegedly Exposing Himself to Woman Walking Dogs, Deputies Say
DAVENPORT, Fla. (iSkyNews.com) — A Davenport man was arrested Sunday after deputies say he exposed himself and masturbated in front of a woman who was walking her dogs near a Davenport apartment complex.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred on June 21 near U.S. Highway 27 and Four Corners Boulevard.
Investigators say the victim was walking her dogs outside her apartment complex when a man driving a Tesla SUV pulled alongside her and asked for directions. The woman immediately noticed the driver was allegedly masturbating while speaking with her.
Deputies said the victim yelled at the suspect, who then drove away from the area.
The woman contacted the Polk County Sheriff's Office and provided information about the vehicle. Investigators later determined the Tesla was registered in Texas to 35-year-old David Acosta of Davenport, although deputies noted the vehicle's registration had expired.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Acosta was positively identified as the suspect and was taken into custody without incident.
He has been charged with:
- Exposure of Sexual Organs (Misdemeanor)
- Traffic Citation for Expired Registration
Sheriff Grady Judd commented on the arrest, saying:
"We're not real sure why this suspect chose to do what he did — he brought attention upon himself and is now charged with a crime. He needs to keep his pants on and both hands on the wheel when he's driving around Polk County."
Acosta was booked into the Polk County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
As with all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
