FHP Pursuit Ends in PIT Maneuver, Suspects Flee on Foot; Guns and Marijuana Recovered
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for multiple suspects after a high-speed pursuit early Wednesday morning ended with a PIT maneuver, the recovery of multiple firearms, and the discovery of a large quantity of marijuana.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident began at approximately 3:00 a.m. on June 3, 2026, when troopers observed a speeding vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate 75 near Mile Marker 250.
Authorities said the driver refused to stop, prompting troopers to initiate a pursuit. The chase continued to State Road 674, where troopers successfully executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver near U.S. Highway 301, bringing the fleeing vehicle to a stop.
Following the maneuver, several male occupants fled from the vehicle on foot and remain at large.
After securing the vehicle, troopers conducted a search and discovered three firearms, including two pistols and one AR-15-style rifle. Investigators also determined that one of the firearms had been reported stolen.
In addition to the weapons, troopers recovered a gallon-sized zip-lock bag containing marijuana from inside the vehicle.
The suspects have not yet been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
