OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A reported fire on the 7th floor of a high-rise hotel prompted evacuations Thursday afternoon at Vacation Villages in Osceola County.

Osceola County Fire Rescue units were dispatched at 3:35 p.m. EST to 2975 Arabian Nights Boulevard following reports of a fire inside the multi-story commercial building. The incident was initially reported in Building 21, a structure approximately 13 stories tall, with evacuations quickly put into progress.

Fire crews responded under a high-rise commercial building response protocol as guests and staff were moved out of the building as a precaution.

Additional reports indicated a smoke smell near Unit 705 in Building 20, located nearby on the property.

After investigating, officials determined the cause of the smoke and odor was a burned cake left in an oven, which triggered the evacuations and emergency response.

No injuries were reported. Crews ensured the building was safe before clearing the scene.
