VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 42-year-old North Carolina man was killed early Tuesday morning after his pickup truck left the roadway and overturned along Interstate 95, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:12 a.m. on February 25, 2026, along southbound I-95 near mile marker 242, just south of West Indian River Boulevard.

FHP investigators say a 2017 Ford F-250 was traveling southbound in the center lane when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the vehicle veered off the roadway to the left. Authorities report the right front of the truck struck a guardrail, causing the pickup to become airborne.

The impact caused the truck to begin overturning before ultimately landing in a water-filled ditch, troopers said.

The driver, identified as a 42-year-old man from Canton, North Carolina, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. According to the report, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Trooper Cano and Corporal Pratts are leading the investigation. Authorities say the crash remains under investigation, and next of kin notification was still pending at the time of the initial release.

No other vehicles were involved.
