Fatal Semi-Truck Crash Shuts Down I-95 in Brevard County, Troopers Investigating

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are on scene of a fatal crash that occurred Thursday afternoon on Interstate 95 in Brevard County.
The crash happened at approximately 2:25 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 north of Deering Parkway (mile marker 232) in Mims. According to preliminary information, the collision involved Vehicle 1, a semi-truck with trailer, and Vehicle 2, a 2004 Volvo truck.
Investigators say the sequence of events leading up to the crash remains under investigation. Following the collision, the semi-truck overturned, struck the inside shoulder guardrail, and became engulfed in flames.
The driver of the semi-truck, whose identity is pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Volvo truck were not injured and remained on scene.
Authorities have implemented a roadblock for the northbound lanes of I-95, along with closures impacting the inside southbound lane, causing significant traffic delays in the area.
The crash remains under active investigation. A media release is expected once additional information becomes available.
