All Westbound Lanes of I-4 Shut Down After Reported Sinkhole Near Davenport
DAVENPORT, Fla. — All westbound lanes of Interstate 4 are shut down Thursday evening following reports of a sinkhole near Mile Marker 55 in the Davenport area.
The incident was dispatched at approximately 7:23 p.m., with Polk County Fire Rescue responding to the scene. The closure is impacting traffic near 5500 I-4 Westbound, where multiple fire engines and emergency crews are currently on location assessing roadway conditions.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the size or severity of the reported sinkhole, but officials closed all westbound lanes out of an abundance of caution while crews evaluate the roadway for safety hazards. Significant traffic delays are expected in the area.
Motorists traveling westbound on I-4 are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until the roadway can be deemed safe and reopened.
This is a developing situation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
