Man Seriously Injured in Stabbing at Winter Haven Bar; Suspect Faces Attempted Murder Charge
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — A late-night bar fight in Winter Haven turned violent early Wednesday morning, leaving one man seriously injured and another facing felony charges.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the Tuff Luck Saloon, located at 2390 Avenue G NW, around 1:00 a.m. on December 17, 2025, after reports of a stabbing inside the bar.
When deputies arrived, they found an adult male victim bleeding heavily from multiple knife wounds. Investigators say the man suffered deep lacerations to his abdomen, wrist, head, and nose, and his nose was broken during the attack. Emergency medical personnel treated the victim at the scene before transporting him for further care.
Deputies quickly took 33-year-old Tylor Scott Hartzog of Winter Haven into custody at the bar. A Ka-Bar style military knife with an approximately 8-inch blade was recovered and identified as the weapon used in the stabbing.

Hartzog told deputies he acted in self-defense. However, after reviewing evidence and speaking with witnesses, detectives determined that Hartzog’s actions did not meet the criteria for self-defense and were instead criminal in nature.
Hartzog was booked into the Polk County Sheriff’s Processing Center and charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder with a Weapon, a first-degree felony, and Improper Exhibition of a Dangerous Weapon, a misdemeanor.
The investigation remains ongoing.
