9-Year-Old Girl Dies Following Late-Night Crash on US-301 in Hillsborough County
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A late-night crash along US-301 claimed the life of a 9-year-old girl Saturday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash occurred around 11:00 p.m. on December 27, 2025, near the SR-618 interchange in Hillsborough County.
Investigators report that a Chevrolet Trax, driven by a 32-year-old woman from Riverview, was traveling southbound on US-301 when it attempted to turn left at the interchange. At the same time, a Ford Fusion, driven by a 27-year-old man from Tampa, was traveling northbound on US-301. The Chevrolet turned into the path of the Ford, resulting in a collision.
The driver of the Chevrolet suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Ford Fusion was not injured.
A 9-year-old girl from Riverview, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to an area hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries, FHP confirmed.
The crash remains under investigation. No additional details were immediately released.
