Pursuit From Mesa Ends in Violent Crash Near Signal Butte and US-60; Multiple Injured
MESA, AZ — A vehicle pursuit that began in Mesa on Friday night ended in a violent crash near Signal Butte Road and U.S. 60, leaving multiple people injured and shutting down traffic in the area.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), the incident began around 7:30 p.m. after deputies attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had just left a known drug house. The driver refused to pull over and began driving erratically, sparking a pursuit that started at Crimson Road and Main Street in east Mesa.

The chase continued into the Signal Butte corridor, where the suspect vehicle ultimately crashed just north of U.S. 60. Inside the car were a male and female suspect, both of whom sustained injuries in the collision. A third person, unrelated to the suspects, was also hurt.
Emergency crews from multiple agencies rushed to the scene, including Mesa Police, MCSO, Mesa Fire and Medical, Superstition Fire and Medical, and Gilbert Fire. First responders treated several patients, including what officials described as a “2-in-1 medical,” indicating multiple victims requiring simultaneous care.
One of the involved vehicles came to rest blocking the southbound lanes, forcing authorities to shut down traffic while crews worked the scene and investigators began documenting evidence.
