DPS: Driver Arrested for DUI After Crashing SUV, Found at In-N-Out Parking Lot
Phoenix, AZ — Arizona State Troopers say a late-night crash that began on the freeway ended in the parking lot of an In-N-Out Burger, where the driver was arrested for DUI early Monday morning.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident began on November 17, 2025, just after 3:22 a.m., when dispatchers received a report of a single-vehicle collision at the interchange from northbound AZ-51 to eastbound AZ-101. A large Nissan SUV had reportedly struck the concrete barriers before continuing off the freeway and exiting at Tatum Boulevard.
About thirty minutes later, a Highway Patrol Trooper located the damaged SUV in the parking lot of the In-N-Out near Tatum. Photos released by DPS show significant front-end damage, with the vehicle’s bumper partially detached.
Troopers contacted the driver and conducted field sobriety tests. According to DPS, the driver showed clear signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
The driver was transported to a DPS facility, where the DUI investigation was completed. The individual was cited and later released to a responsible party.
The agency urges drivers to make safe choices and avoid impaired driving.
DPS added a reminder for holiday and late-night travelers:
Animal style is for fries, not the highways.
